Robstown, Texas and Area in Danger – Critical INFO KEPT FROM THEM!!!
“WE ARE NOT REQUIRED TO RUN OUR ANNOUNCEMENT IN SPANISH”
Robstown, Texas – US Ecologists is listed as one of the most dangerous and dirtiest chemical/nuclear waste disposal sites in the nation by an organization that keeps score on such dangerous dump sites. SCORECARD.ORG; this watchdog group and other trustworthy ones are concerned about US Ecologist (especially their role in Robstown area; an area where Hispanics for the most part orbit the burg). Their website displays a chart that diagrams the score of all dumpsites they have researched. US Ecologists in Robstown is portrayed in an ultra-dangerous category.
The local US Ecologists dumping site is located less than a handful of miles from the small community of Robstown. Despite the above, and as it is getting more clearly more obvious by the day, their “infamous” mount of waste and refuge (known as “El Centro) is protruding higher and higher in altitude. As one visitor to the site put it: “It looks like a huge volcano that is going gobble up their tiny offices.” In this city, known as Robstown, mostly an Hispanic and ethnic minority community is plague according to regional medical data obtained as being weighed down with high rates of cancer, diabetes, kidney and liver maladies and a crazy quilt of other environmental factor related variables related to ill health.
US Ecologists IN A BLATANT MOVE, NOW Seeks New Permits Before Governmental Regulatory Agencies – Yet Refuses To Responsibly Inform The Public About Required Hearings (in Spanish as required or as ethically expected by any entity)…
But the biggest danger of all is not the despicable site or activities that seem to be furtively conducted on a day-in and day-out basis, but the lack of responsible information they are blatantly keeping from the public. A representative of US Ecologists – which for care reasons we shall abbreviate to Christie Perez – told El Defenzor newspaper that they are not required by law to do their new cycles of “news announcements of public hearing in Spanish.”
The above behavior by the regional US Ecologists clearly hints at their clandestine and mealy-mouth agenda. As one resident said: “Nuclear waste being dumped here from other states and they don’t want us to know the consequences? We have children, we have wives, and we have grandmas. I have seen people here die of horrible, horrible illnesses such as cancer and other maladies that have never been fully explained. US Ecologists now much be placed under the microscope.”
Another resident opined: “Where are our leaders? They are sitting next to the former CEO of US Ecologists at the regional Fairgrounds? In fact, the former president – Joe Kramer -- of US Ecologists is there is now the President of the Robstown Area Development Corporation and has been a seat in the Corpus Christi Regional Economic Development.
And Kramer’s role in the Robstown Area Development Corporation now has being in question. As the Corpus Christi-times Reported: “In April, an auditor disclosed that the agency (Robstown Area Development Corporation) had failed to submit annual financial statements to the IRS, used by donors to gauge whether money is being spent wisely. The audit also found that checks were missing, documentation was lacking for a nutrition program and purchase orders were not being used. Those documents are also used to determine whether funds are used appropriately.”
